Privacy
The short version. This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, has no advertising, no tracking pixels, no embedded social media, no newsletter sign-up and no contact form. There is nothing here that follows you. The only personal data processed is what any web server unavoidably receives in order to send you a page, and the address of anyone who chooses to write to us.
Who is responsible
The controller for this website is Mykhaylo Matkovskyy, IE Tower, Paseo de la Castellana 259E, 28046 Madrid, Spain. Email editor@readcrude.com. No data protection officer is appointed, because the conditions in Article 37 GDPR and article 34 LOPDGDD are not met.
What is processed when you read a page
This site is delivered by Cloudflare, which acts as our processor under Article 28 GDPR. To deliver a page and to keep the service secure and available, Cloudflare processes your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, the referring page, and your browser and operating system identifiers. This is ordinary server log and content delivery processing, it is not combined into a profile, and it is not used to identify you.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in operating a website that is available, fast and not trivially attacked.
Retention: Cloudflare retains edge logs for a short period for security and abuse handling. We do not maintain our own server log store, and we do not export, query or analyse these logs.
Transfers: Cloudflare, Inc. is established in the United States. Transfers are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses together with Cloudflare's supplementary measures, and Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Cloudflare's own privacy documentation is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
The price ticker
The strip of prices near the top of the home page is fetched by your browser from tickers.readcrude.com, which is our own service running on the same infrastructure. It returns prices only. It receives no information about you beyond the technical request data described above, it sets no cookies, and it stores nothing about the request.
Fonts
The typefaces are served from this domain. They are not loaded from Google Fonts or any other third party, so reading this site sends nothing to a font provider. This was changed on 11 September 2026, before which the fonts were loaded from Google and your IP address would have reached Google in the United States.
If you write to us
Email to editor@readcrude.com is routed by Cloudflare Email Routing to a personal mailbox. We process your address, your name if you give it, and whatever you put in the message, for the sole purpose of answering you.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your message concerns a possible or existing agreement, otherwise Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in replying to correspondence. Retention: for as long as the correspondence is live, and afterwards only where a statutory retention period requires it.
Crude is published as a LinkedIn newsletter and this site links to it. There are no LinkedIn buttons, badges, scripts or embeds on this site, so LinkedIn learns nothing about your visit here. If you follow a link to LinkedIn, LinkedIn's own terms and privacy policy apply from that point and LinkedIn is the controller for what happens there. That is a separate relationship between you and LinkedIn.
What we do not do
No cookies. No local or session storage. No analytics of any kind. No advertising and no advertising identifiers. No tracking pixels or web beacons. No profiling and no automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR. No sale or sharing of personal data. No mailing list.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data (Article 15), to rectification (16), to erasure (17), to restriction of processing (18), to data portability (20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (21). Where processing rests on consent you may withdraw it at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of what was done before. Write to editor@readcrude.com and we will answer within one month.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Spain that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), C/ Jorge Juan 6, 28001 Madrid, aepd.es. You may also complain to the authority where you live or work.
Changes
If this site ever adds analytics, a mailing list, a payment step or any embedded third party, this page changes first and the change is dated here.
